Cinnamon Roll Day - October 1st, '09

In memory of Mom, our annual Cinnamon Roll Day

Happy Helpers!

Yes, they were SO good! I'd have to say my best batch yet. The frosting was perfect. MMMMMMMMMMMM. (Posting pictures of cinnamon rolls is not a good idea when fasting!)

18 cups of flour and don't ask how many cubes of butter later- The finished product.

My great friend, Kathryn, brought her kids down for a bit and I let the kids frost their own cinnamon roll. They loved this. AND I even got Kathryn to eat one that night, after 5 months of an awful no sugar diet! She was happy and so was I! And of course it was totally worth it, right Kathryn?!

Yes! I'm SO glad I ate it! You're absolutely right about them being the best batch yet. mmmmmm I wish I could go back and re-live the moment right now. (I'm a little hungry) Thanks for inviting us down to share in the deliciousness. I still think this is such a great way for you to remember your mom! She'd be so proud of you and all you have done with your life. Love you!

I love that you do this every year to remember and honor your mom. Such a sweet thing to do. You are just sweet all around though, so I wouldn't expect anything less. They look so stinking good! You're going to have to teach me how to make those one day.

In honor of your mom I make multiple pies every Thanksgiving. She and my mom would just go nuts making pies whenever she came to visit. Always trying to make pies like Grandma Maycock.

... Thinking of Kathy today. How is it that I can miss someone 9 years later, who wasn't family, but treated me like such? I know it's because of all the ways she validated me as a person, when I was just a kid and even as a teen ager trying to find my way though life.

I'm thinking of you all today. There is no love like a Mothers and I'm so sorry that you have to go through life with out her there in person.

Here's to Kathy! She is beloved.
