Bedtime

When it comes to being tucked in for bed, our kids are complete opposites. Pierce has always been a little snuggler. (Which we love.) We HAS to be "nuggled" every night, so Ryan and I take turns "nuggling" him which includes laying in his bed snuggling up to him, and what used to be singing to him, has of late, turned into a few minutes of "making rhymes", telling jokes, or playing "I spy."

Madi, on the other hand, could not care less about being snuggled. She wants to "read" her books. (This is, of course, after we have read them a bedtime story.) We tuck her into bed with a limit of 2 books (after her arguing of course, if she had her way, she would load her bed up with 10 or 12 books.) So we tuck her in with her books and leave the light dimmed for her so she can "read", when she is done she will slide the books onto her floor and go to sleep. The other night, when I went to check on her this is what I found....

She had ever so carefully laid out her blanket, gathered up her stuffed animals and gotten them all a book. I am quite certain she had read the books to all of them too.

I hope she loves reading this much when she is in school. She is such a little sweetie, I just love her so much!

Cinnamon Roll Day - October 1st, '09

In memory of Mom, our annual Cinnamon Roll Day

Happy Helpers!

Yes, they were SO good! I'd have to say my best batch yet. The frosting was perfect. MMMMMMMMMMMM. (Posting pictures of cinnamon rolls is not a good idea when fasting!)

18 cups of flour and don't ask how many cubes of butter later- The finished product.

My great friend, Kathryn, brought her kids down for a bit and I let the kids frost their own cinnamon roll. They loved this. AND I even got Kathryn to eat one that night, after 5 months of an awful no sugar diet! She was happy and so was I! And of course it was totally worth it, right Kathryn?!

The Good Ol' Dixie Round-Up

The Children's Parade

As a member of the St. George Exchange Club, Ryan has been involved in a lot of service activities for the community over the last couple of years. One thing the club does every year is "Give A Kid A Flag To Wave", were they give a flag to every kid at the Dixie Round Up Children's Parade. This is the first time I have taken the kids to the parade since he has been doing this. The kids loved the parade and especially loved seeing Daddy in the parade!

I am not sure what it was - but something about my manly husband walking down the parade route, wearing that ridiculous yellow t-shirt,sweating like crazy, and making sure every kid watching the parade was given a flag...I just couldn't keep the tears from coming. It was such a sweet site for me to see.

And what could be sweeter than this? Not much.

The Rodeo

We have never taken our kids to the rodeo, we always talk about it and never do it, but this year Pierson came home from school after the "Rodeo Assembly" and couldn't stop talking about wanting to go to the "radio." (I kept correcting him, but it was just cracking me up every time he called it the "radio.") So we decided since it started so late, Ryan would just take Pierson and just the boys could go to the rodeo. Pierson was super excited about going with Dad!

The boys ready for their exciting night out

When you are 6 you can get away with wearing a hat like this to the rodeo and people still think you look cute.

Pierson got to ride around the arena before the rodeo started with Dr. Gooch

Pierce had such a fun night! He made it through the whole thing and loved every minute of it. He was completely exhausted when they got home so late. The next morning he told me ALL about the rodeo and even acted it all out for me! He was a bucking bronco all morning and what entertainment it was for me!
