A girl can never wear too much jewelry

So, Saturday morning Madi wakes me up climbing up onto my bed chattering away. I force my eyes open and see she is wearing one of my necklaces, which she somehow got down from my closet. I tell her it's not a toy and that she needs to ask me if she wants to wear one of my necklaces, it's not to play with. She immediately bursts into tears and runs from my room crying, "I don't have any necklaces!" I calm her down and convince her that she does have her own necklaces and we go find them in the dress up box. I pulled out every necklace, braclett and ring she has and she was completely thrilled.

She spent the morning adorned in all of her jewelry. Of course Brother couldn't miss out on the fun....soon they were pirates busy with their pirate treasure....

After awhile Pirates was over and we moved on with the day. Madi wore all of her necklaces, bracelets and rings all day long...

...and I think she just proves that a girl can never wear too much jewelry.

DI Project

So, my wonderfully talented and amazing friend, Kathryn, found this little gem for me at DI. I have mentioned her decorating and painting skills before, I have not mentioned her mad skills in finding and refinishing furniture. Just one of her many talents. Anyway, she was scoping for good finds and found this bed for Madi. I should pay her a finders fee, but since I am buying things from DI.... well I'll just have to baby-sit for her more.

BEFORE

AFTER

I sanded and primed and primed and primed, and Ryan painted and put together. It turned out so cute!

Madi LOVES her new bed! She was also super thrilled with getting to pick out Hello Kitty sheets! The day we got it set up the kids and I were gone and Ryan got home from work a bit early and got it put together, sheets on and everything! (Love him!) He even had her "purple blank and monk" and Hello Kitty sitting so cute on the bed. (Seriously, love him!) We got home and she was SO excited to see her new bed all set up. After her bath she got her jammies on and hopped right into bed! I had to convince her to get out to brush her teeth and say prayers. She was just so thrilled. She woke up at some ridiculous hour of the morning, which I wasn't exactly aware of, and came and got in bed with me. She slept with me for a bit, (this is quite usual) then woke me up to tell me, "I'm ready to go back to sleep in my new bed." And she did. She has loved sleeping in it and she loves her Hello Kitty sheets so much, she does not want a blanket over them. Love my Madi girl. Love Ryan. Love Kathryn. Love the DI.

Madilyn

O My little Madi girl! I have been wanting to take the time to write down some of the funny things about Madi lately...

She is on a major princess kick and is usually in one of her princess dress ups for a good portion of the day. Some mornings she will put on a princess dress over her p.j.'s before she even comes in to find me and Ryan. She loves her dresses and also wearing her "glass slippers". She has also been showing up at Grandma's in her princess attire lately. I especially love how everything is "lovely, wonderful, and beautiful". And how getting in the car to go to dance class is also "getting in the carriage to go to the ball."

She loves her dance class. She has so much fun, especially with her cute little friends. She is learning a lot and comes home and practices, she imitates her teachers instructions and it's so cute! She really enjoys Miss Sherrie. She also still likes to perform her "Frosty the Snowman" dance whenever she gets a chance.

She loves to sing. She is very good at memorizing songs and learns them so quickly. In January they were learning a new song in primary and on the 2nd week Pierson reported to us that the primary chorister said a line and asked if anyone remembered the next part and Madi shouted it out! He told us they said, "that's so good for just a little sunbeam!" She also loves making up songs and sings about a variety of subjects. We certainly get a good laugh each time she does this. She loves to sing "Ariel" and the songs from "Princess and the Pauper." It absolutely melts my heart each time she does this.

She is thankful. She is constantly thanking me for things. ( I LOVE this!) She is so good to say thanks for little thing I get for her, a drink, a snack, etc. But my favorite is when she is playing with a toy that she knows I gave her and no matter how long ago it was she'll say, "thanks for my (name of toy) Mom! I love it!" Very sweet.

She loves to pretend. Truly one of my greatest joys as a Mom is watching and listening to Pierce and Madi pretend together. They are so funny! I love how she is so willing to play right along him in Transformers, Super Heroes, Ninja Turtles and Star Wars. She gets SO into it. She especially loves to be a Ninja Turtle but when she doesn't want to be one of his characters she is quick to be one of their "pet cats" or "Mary Jane's Kid" or "Lois's kid". Their dialogues are hilarious. Pierce is lucky to have such a cool little sister who'll play "boy" things with him. It's great hearing her switch gears in an instant from being "Princess" to "Leonardo" or some such character. They have really been enjoying Star Wars and this is great for her since she can be "Princess Leia". She is so well rounded.

She loves to read. This girl loves her books so much! She loves being read to and also "reading" by herself. Ryan and I love to listen to hear "reading" books to herself, it is so adorable! Many stories she has pretty much memorized and she recites them just as we read them to her, (I LOVE this!) If she is looking at a book she doesn't know the story to she makes up delightful stories based on the pictures. Very entertaining.

She loves talking about when she gets married and when she's a Mom. Which she says, "when I'n a Mom." She has been talking about these things for a few months now, almost everything I do she'll ask me, "when I'n a mom will I do that?" She has very sweetly named her daughter Kathy. I'm thinking she just thinks it's a good idea since this is her middle name, but whatever the reason it is so darling. She frequently talks about when she's a Mom and how she'll take care of Kathy. The other day, totally out of the blue she said, (in a very scared voice) "Mom I was scared of the Pirate ride at Disneyland." I reminded her it was just pretend and told her she wont be scared of it when she is bigger. Then she says, "I bet when Kaffy's a yittle gul (little girl), she'll be scared of the pirate ride."

L's are Y's and R's are W's. My favorite is when she talks to or about my friend, Lyndsi, and her little girl, Lily (who I often call Lil). "Yinds" and "Yil", it's the cutest little thing. I'll be sad for sure when she outgrows this. Well as long as she's not like 14 before it happens.

Recently Madi discovered her birth mark, this has been so funny. The first time she said something about it she was looking in the mirror while getting her hair done and suddenly gasped and said, "Mom I have a sun burn!" I explained her birth mark to her and since then she asks and talks about it a lot. I always tell her that it is pretty and I love it (which I do now. A little frightening when she was born, but love it now.) She often asks if other people have birth marks and is always interested to know if anyone does. One of my favorite moments was while we were at our friends, The Rollins. Addie was watching Madi get her hair done and she said to Addie, "what about my birthmark, do you like it?" Sweet little Addie said yes.

I took these pictures of her one day after dance, I just love seeing her in her dance outfit, along with a princess necklace and her beloved Hello Kitty boots. She is such a little crack up and makes me laugh every day, she is usually very happy and cheerful, and I love the joy she brings me! I love my little Madi girl!
