1st Grade!

It was seriously hard for me to believe the 1st day of school was really here. And even harder to believe my little boy is in 1st grade! I was so nervous and scared for Pierson to be gone all day, and worried Madi would be so bored without him. After realizing Pierce had overheard me one too many times, saying these kinds of things, I started trying hard to help him feel excited for 1st grade. I tried talking to him about how much I loved 1st grade and the things that would be fun, and told him that even though I would miss him all day, I was excited for him to go to 1st grade. We talked about this a few times and he would reply: "Well I'm excited to have 3 recesses!" The night before school started I took him to "Back to School Night" and this helped a lot too- he was SO excited to see that he would get his OWN desk, and his OWN pencil box with his OWN crayons, pencils and glue. So when the morning of the 1st day came around he was pretty excited about 1st grade thanks to 3 recesses and his own stuff! (I was still sad, but faking it pretty good.)

Pierce ready for the big day with his best buddy, Grant

My big 1st Grade boy

At his OWN desk!

One of the things I was the most nervous about was lunch at school. I asked Pierce if he wanted me to come have lunch with him on the 1st day and thankfully he was thrilled about this! (I'll be taking advantage of this as long as I can.)So Madi and I went to have lunch with him...luckily when I walked into the lunch room he had already found Grant and they were sitting down so good getting their lunch out. Grant was in his Kindergarten class and so we have talked a lot about how he wont always have his best friends in his class, but he can always meet for recess and lunch. I told him how my best friend, Stac, and I used to have a special spot to meet at recess on the playground. I was happy to see he'd had a great morning and had met up with Grant for lunch. Madi was also super thrilled about having lunch with brother! They loved it so much that we went back again the 2nd day. So now I just have to conquer one more fear, him eating lunch at school with out me!

He had a great 1st day and I was so proud of him! 2 days down...how many more to go?

"Bal-a-weena"

Madi started dance classes this week...we are both loving it! I have been so excited to start her, she loves to dance around all the time! I was a little worried about how she would do with the class structure though, but she surprised me and was perfect!! Luckily we got her into a class with her 2 little best friends, Annie and Ava, which makes it so much more fun! She was SO excited to get her "dancing clothes" and once she tried them on, she did NOT want to take them off! She loves them. The funniest thing was I had only talked about "dancing" and "dancing lessons", I had never said the word ballerina. But as soon as she put on her skirt, she said, "Mommy now I'm a bal-a-weena!"

Madi and Annie (Ava had to miss the 1st class)

Cutest little girls ever!

Bad Guys & Jam

A few fun moments that I was able to snap some cute pictures of this week...

I found a new way to entertain Pierson. We got out his nerf gun, set up a stool, lined up some of his "bad guys" and made a game of him trying to shoot the bad guys and knock them off the stool. He thought this was the greatest thing and had so much fun!

I love this face! He was totally into it!

Jam Day

The last few year I have enjoyed making raspberry jam in the summer. The kids were excited to help me. I let them squish up the berries (after a very thorough hand/arm SCRUBBING from Mom.) They love this! Pierce has been being my helper the last couple years, but this was Madi's first squishing experience. They had a lot of fun and the amazing thing was- they actually did help me! How great is that?! Here are a few of my favorite shots.

The finished product. Yummy!!!

A Happy 24th of July Birthday!

Pierson had a great birthday and loved every minute of his day. It is so fun for him to have his birthday on Pioneer Day and he loves all the celebrating that goes along with it. **Unfortunately this is going to be a picture-less post for now. The good news is we got an amazing new camera, which I am only scratching the surface of it's potential and can't wait to learn how to really use. The bad news is that I shot all of his birthday pictures in RAW, knowing that RAW means "really good" and not much else, and I got a plethora of great pictures, but can't do anything with them until I get photo shop. So- I will add in the pictures later.**

The morning begun with a LOT of excitement for the birthday boy! He had a VERY loose tooth that needed to be pulled all week, and the day before I finally convinced him that he would be so lucky to have the Tooth Fairy come on his birthday and she just might bring him something extra for his birthday. Sure enough, she didn't disapoint and Pierce woke up to a surprise of a dollar and a great new Super-Hero book under his pillow. Thank you Tooth Fairy!

It has become our little family tradition to have a birthday muffin for breakfast complete with singing "Happy Birthday" and a "practice" candle

Then off to the parade...Pierson loves that there is a parade on his birthday!

The races in the park have also become a favorite Pioneer Day/Birthday event. Madi was so thrilled about the race this year, and she was pretty fast. I love to watch her run, prancing along, pure joy!

Pierson and his buddy Grant were super anxious for their race and won with an accidental early start! They just couldn't hold back the excitement!

After the races we hurried home and got ready for the big Super-Hero party. Pierson had all of his little "best friends" there and we had them all dress up in their "Super-Hero" costumes. They were so cute and had so much fun together.

After the party we all had a much needed rest so we could be ready for more fun in the evening. We had our great friends, The Houskeepers, over for more partying! The kids had fun splashing in the blow up pool for a bit and then we enjoyed a yummy dinner, and of course, more cake. The kids had a ball and we loved having them over to celebrate with us! Thanks Lynds and fam! We love you all!

We were totally disapointed that the city wasn't doing fireworks this year. (The best part about a Pioneer Day birthday is the fireworks!) So we had prepped Pierson for the fact that we wouldn't get to see any this year. Then we heard that there would be fireworks after the baseball game at the college. So we let the kids stay up and we headed over to the college to catch those fireworks. Even though they weren't the best fireworks ever, it was enough for us. Our SUPER birthday boy had a SUPER day!!! (I can't believe my little boy is 6!)
